How do I find a book in the library?

  1. Location: Most books are in the Book Stacks which means they are on a shelf on one of the floors of the library. In some cases, the location is Special Collections or Main Desk. For help with these locations, Ask Us!
  2. Call #: This is the book's address on the shelf. If the book's location is Book Stacks and the Call # starts with any letters from A through L, or N through P, it will be located on the 3rd floor. If the Call # begins with letter M or Q through Z, it will be located on the 1st floor.
  3. Status: In Library means the book should be on the shelf. A due date in the status columns indicates a book is already checked out by someone else. If a book is checked out, you can order it through Cline Library’s Document Delivery Service (DDS). For more help with DDS, consult Requesting an item that NAU doesn't have.
